Barcelona travel guide

Barcelona divides into the medieval old city (Gothic Quarter, El Born) and the orderly grid of Eixample (Gaudí country). The beach is a 15-minute walk from the center — rare among European capitals. Lunch is the big meal; dinner doesn't start until 9 PM.

When to visit

Best months: Apr, May, Jun, Sep, Oct

Spring and fall. June is excellent — beach weather without August heat.

Avoid: July and August are hot and crowded with tourists.
