Lisbon is a city of hills, tiled facades, and slow afternoons. It still feels like good value relative to other European capitals, though prices have climbed. The light is famous for good reason — golden through most of the day, and at sunset it does something to the river.
When to visit
Best months: Apr, May, Jun, Sep, Oct
Spring and fall. June has long days and warm nights without the August crush.
Avoid: Mid-July through August can be hot and crowded.
