New Orleans travel guide
New Orleans is a city that runs on music, food, and water. Don't spend the whole trip in the French Quarter — the Marigny, Bywater, and Uptown are where the city actually lives. Eat too much.
When to visit
Best months: Feb, Mar, Apr, Oct, Nov, Dec
Mardi Gras (Feb/March) and Jazz Fest (late April) are peak. October-December has great weather and lighter crowds.
Avoid: July-September are hot, humid, and hurricane-prone.
Where to stay
French Quarter
iconic, touristy, walkable · best for first-timers
Marigny / Bywater
creative, music, casual food · best for music, repeat visitors
